Report: Scott Pruitt Met With Indiana Coal Exec, Major GOP Fundraiser

March 19, 2018 - Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt last May met with an Indiana coal executive and major GOP fundraiser who boasted of raising more than $1 million for President Donald Trump's campaign, Politico reports.

Documents obtained via a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit and sent to Politico show Pruitt met with White Stallion Energy CEO Steven Chancellor in what was titled a "courtesy call and introductory meeting."

It's not clear what was discussed during the meet-and-greet.

Chancellor petitioned the EPA in December 2016 to ease an Obama-era rule regarding pollution that floats across state lines, one that the EPA says it has yet to respond to, Politico reported.

Pruitt also is expected to run for the Senate in 2020, and he has previously met with megadonor Sheldon Adelson as well as outside conservative groups, Politico reports.

Chancellor hosted a $10,000-per-couple fundraiser in support of Trump in August 2016 that he said raised more than $1 million. He also raised more than $1 million in support of Mitt Romney in 2012.
