EXPOMIN 2018 Confirms Leading Position in Latin American Mining Sector

 

 

May 22, 2018 - The recent staging of Expomin 2018 at the Espacio Riesco in Santiago, Chile, closed to positive results and confirmed its position at the leading trade fair for the Latin American mining sector: 1,350 exhibitors showcased their products to more than 70,000 visitors.


"We set many objectives for the trade fair as an event that brings together mining supply companies and we are very satisfied since we managed to attract more than 1,300 companies, with 40% national or Chile based and 60% international. The participation of many important global companies helped us to increase the number of people who visited the trade fair”, explained Carlos Parada, CEO of EXPOMIN 2018. The trade fair is considered the largest event for this industry in Latin America and one of the largest worldwide.


The Messe Düsseldorf Group from Germany acted as the exclusive representative for the US, Europe and India in partnership with show organizer FISA. From the US, 107 exhibitors participated in EXPOMIN 2018 within the successful USA EXPOMIN Pavilion organized for the second time by Messe Düsseldorf North America.


The exhibits were complemented by an extensive ancillary program including the International Congress “Innovation for Mining Development”. In 13 seminars, more than 110 national and international renowned speakers addressed topics such as technology, competitiveness, sustainability, productive efficiency as well as energy, human resources, Investments and Business. In addition, about 25 government authorities, experts from academia and technology centers as well as 60 speakers from mining companies and 26 suppliers and consultants with technological solutions participated in these discussions. Of the speakers, 90 were national and 20 international, including Argentina (3), U.S. (3), Australia (2), Canada (2), China (2), United Kingdom (1) and Latin America (7).


Carlos Parada valued the participation of Baldo Prokurica, Minister of Mining, and Pablo Terrazas, Deputy Secretary of the portfolio: “He is a minister entering his term who knows the industry and the political sphere and therefor has the ability to use it for the benefit of the mining industry.”


The trade fair projects business worth about US $ 1,700 million, having registered more than 2,500 national and international business meetings. In addition, more than 3,000 attendees took part in the Meeting of Technical/Professional Students and Professors for Mining.


The next staging of EXPOMIN will be held from April 20 – 24, 2020 in Santiago de Chile.
