October 20, 2018 - A Virginia artist has made the most of a historic landmark.

Jeffry Dobrow lit up the coal tower on East Water Street in Charlottesville on Friday, October 19, with a unique light show.

The coal tower is one of the last of its kind in the state.

Dobrow says he was inspired to hold the show at the coal tower because of the landmark's history.

“This coal tower, having passed it a hundred times never knew anything about it, wondered what was going to happen to it, looked up the history, thought this would be phenomenal to map,” Dobrow said.

Dobrow says he hopes his light show inspires people throughout the Charlottesville community to think more about art.
