Russia's Coal Production Up 5.9% to 433.4 Million Tonnes in 2018

 

 

January 4, 2019 - Coal production in Russia in 2018 increased by 5.9% year-on-year to 433.4 mln tonnes, according to the Central Dispatching Department of Fuel Energy Complex (CDU TEK), Trend reports referring to TASS.


Coal exports rose by 2.6% to 191 mln tonnes in the reporting period.


Deliveries of Russian coal to the domestic market rose by 4.3% to 372.3 mln tonnes in the last year. Coal imports dropped by 6.3% to 21.7 mln tonnes in 2018.


Production of the largest coal companies in the reporting period amounted to: SUEK - 110.1 mln tonnes of coal (+2.2%), Kuzbassrazrezugol (part of UMMC) - 44.9 mln tonnes (down 3%), Southern Kuzbass (Mechel affiliate) - 6.9 mln tonnes (-15.2%), Vostsibugol - 15.5 mln tonnes (+12%), and Yakutugol (affiliated with Mechel) - 7 mln tonnes (-16.2%).


Raspadskaya Coal Company reduced production by 6.3% annually to 10.3 mln tonnes on its Novokuznetsk site and boosted it by 11.4% to 12.7 mln tonnes on its Mezhdurechensk site.


Russia lowered electricity exports by 1.7% year-on-year to 20 bln kWh in 2018, according to the Central Dispatching Department of Fuel Energy Complex (CDU TEK).


Electricity exports surged 34.6% to 2.1 bln kWh in December 2018.


At the same time, the decline of electricity exports to the CIS countries amounted to 41.2% year-to-date and reached 4.2 bln kW/h; this figure rose by 6.3% to 0.5 bln kW/h over last December.


Electricity imports declined by 30.2% to 4.2 bln kWh in 2018.


Electricity generation in Russia in 2018 increased by 1.7% year-on-year to 1.1 trillion kWh, according to the Central Dispatching Department of Fuel Energy Complex (CDU TEK).


Electric power generation rose by 4.9% year-on-year to 107.7 bln kWh in December 2018.


Electricity generation in the United Energy System (UES) of Russia added 1.7% and reached 1.07 trillion kWh in 2018 and increased by 4.9% to 105.6 bln kWh over last December.


Electricity consumption rose 1.6% and reached 1.07 trillion kWh in the last year. Consumption volumes grew by 4% to 105.6 bln kWh in December 2018.

 

Heat generation fell by 1.8% year-on-year to 467.4 mln Gcal in 2018 but showed an increase by 3% last December to 64.2 mln Gcal.
