National Mining Hall of Fame & Museum Gift Shop Goes Online

November 24, 2020 - The National Mining Hall of Fame & Museum (NMHFM) announced that its new website has been substantially completed and now includes an online gift shop as well. Design and construction of the new website was donated to the museum by a generous supporter.

“This gift from one of our supporters was a huge boost to the organization. Our old website was something of a dinosaur that made updating and changing information quite complicated. Our hope is that  having an online store will be another avenue to help us bring in revenue during the remainder of the COVID-19 restrictions, and for years to come,” said NMHFM Executive Director Steve Whittington.

Visitors to the NMHFM website at www.mininghalloffame.org can now view many of the items that once could only be purchased on site at the museum in Leadville, Colorado. The staff is still adding items to the collection, but most of our inventory has been photographed and put online.

“Our primary goal in stocking the gift shop is to keep things mining-related,” added Whittington. We have a great selection of books for all ages as well as jewelry, art, souvenirs and toys for the kids.”

In conjunction with the gift shop going live, the NMHFM is also conducting a “Name the Gift Shop” contest to give the physical and online store an identity and personality of its own. The public is invited to email suggestions to info@mininghalloffame.org by December 31st, 2020. The winner will receive a specially selected item from the gift shop inventory.

The requirements for entries are:

 *Two or three words maximum.

 *Theme must be mining related.

*Incorporate our mission to “Tell the story of mining, its people, its importance to the American public, and to society’s sustainability.”

*The name must create an atmosphere that is fun and welcoming!

If you happen to be out and about in the Leadville, Colorado, we are still open for visits! The museum, Hall of Fame, and gift shop are open to visitors with facemasks Tuesday through Saturday each week from 9:00 a.m. until 4:45 p.m.
