Coalfields on Fire in India Result in Loss of Coal, Capital

 

 

March 24, 2017 - India's Chirimiri coalfield which mines coal through open cast mining has been on fire for the past month. The coal obtained is slowly catching fire which is gradually turning to ashes, resulting in loss of heavy capital. Workers working at the coal mines estimated that around 8 lakh tones of coal are turning into ashes. Gallons of water have been and are being spent to douse the raging flames but to no avail. The raging inferno in the coalmines is also leading to pollution.
