BREAKING NEWS - Komatsu Purchases Fairchild Line of Scoops from GE Transportation
June 30, 2018 - Komatsu Mining Corp. has announced the purchase of assets comprising the scoop product line from GE Transportation. The scoops and related intellectual property were formerly part of the GE Fairchild line of products, which are well-known to the coal mining industry.

The purchased assets include original equipment, exchange parts, and intellectual property to support the existing installed base of scoops, which numbers around 400 machines. The scoop line expands the Komatsu underground equipment range.
Earlier this year, as part of a planned process to divest Fairchild products, GE Transportation said that it would be discontinuing original equipment and service support for those products. That customer base now has a new partner, Komatsu, who stands ready to provide a high standard of sales and service.

By adding the scoops to the Joy underground mining machinery range, Komatsu not only expands its product range but also offers the former GE customers the opportunity to take advantage of the Komatsu global sales and service support with its substantial underground presence.
It is understood that several former GE employees are joining the Komatsu team as the support of the existing scoop customers begins immediately while at the same time the integration of the product into Komatsu processes and systems takes place. With their product and parts knowledge, the new team members will help ensure a seamless transition.
