Coal Production Increased in Ukraine in 2021
January 11, 2022 - Ukrainian miners produced over 29 million tons of coal last year, which is 2% more than a year earlier.
At the end of 2021, coal production in Ukraine increased by 2% (by 569.5 thousand tons) – up to 29.387 million tons, according to the data of the Ministry of Energy.

In December, production of raw coal increased by 5.8% (by 152.9 thousand tons) compared to the same month in 2020 – up to 2 million 771.8 thousand tons.
So, during the year, 22.153 million tons of thermal coal and 7.234 million tons of coking coal were produced.
At the same time, state mines increased production 1.9 times – up to 5.446 million tons.
In general, the mines of the Donetsk region in 2021 ensured the production of 11.892 million tons of coal (+ 5.7%), Lugansk – 257.6 thousand tons (+ 14.2%), Dnepropetrovsk – 16.32 million tons (+0, 2%), Lviv – 1.182 million tons (-9.7%), Volynskaya – 24.4 thousand tons (-28.5%).
Recall that in 2020, coal production decreased by 7.7% (2.406 million tons) – to 28.818 million tons.
Note that over the past week, coal reserves in the warehouses of thermal power plants increased by 18.1% (91 thousand tons) and reached 594.2 thousand tons, which is only 7.6% (643.3 thousand tons) less than last year’s figures.
