Mine Kiyzassky Reaches 55 Million t of Coal

By Jessica Casey

January 25, 2022 - An event dedicated to the extraction of 55 million t of coal was held on the territory of the mining operations of the Kiyzassky Open Pit. The best employees were awarded letters of thanks for conscientious work.

The enterprise in 2021 significantly increased the volume of coal production. Under the production growth programme, the Sibanthracite Group, which includes Razrez Kiyzassky, is acquiring a fleet of its own equipment. Two 20 m3 and two 12 m3 excavators have already started working at the enterprise. Gradually, excavators with a smaller bucket capacity will be taken out of service. In 2022, the Kiyzassky opencast mine will purchase electric 20 m3 and 22 m3 excavators. It is planned to purchase 30 mining dump trucks with a carrying capacity of 220 – 240 t. In addition, contractors will purchase about 40 more such dump trucks with a payload capacity of 90 – 220 t specifically for the needs of the Kiyzassky Mine. The plan is to increase coal production in 2022 as well.

Mine Kiyzassky is implementing an extensive environmental programme. The company transports coal on dump trucks that are fuelled with liquefied natural gas. There are modern treatment facilities. In 2021, the enterprise planted more than 1 million trees in Kuzbass. The modernisation of the coal-loading station continues – protective screens and new dust suppression installations have been installed on its territory. In 2022, tree planting will continue, the length of the protective screen will increase, and the company will also purchase additional dust suppression units. The Kiyzassky Mine is open for interaction with local residents. Management regularly, together with the population, takes part in the monitoring of blasting operations, and also organises visits to production facilities.

In 2022, the electrification of the Kiyzassky Mine will continue. The construction of the Kiyzasskaya substation and the construction of a high-voltage line will make it possible to put into operation six electric excavators. The use of heavy vehicles will significantly reduce the burden on the environment.

Ruslan Minibaev, Director General of Sibanthracite Myski Managing Company LLC (manages Kiyzassky Mine), commented: “The 55 millionth t of coal mined in such a short time proves that the Kiyzasskiy Mine team is moving in the right direction. I would like to thank those people who launched the enterprise, breathed life into it and set such a high bar. We look up to them and try to keep up.”

‘Razrez Kiyzassky’ not only achieves high production rates, but also actively supports the population of the Myskovsky urban district (MGO). The company signed an agreement with the administrations of the MGO on the continuation of the social partnership for a period of three years. The enterprise financed the overhaul of the Olymp sports complex, the purchase of modern computers for the city's schools, the organisation of children's recreation on the Black Sea coast, the holding of a grant competition, and provides multilateral assistance to the indigenous people of Kuzbass – the Shors. Total between 2018 and 2020 Mine Kiyzassky allocated RUB 634 million for the implementation of social projects in Myski and the Kemerovo region.

Today, Kiyzassky Open Pit is the only coal mining enterprise that provides residents of the city with ‘social’ coal of high quality at below market prices. The mine also ships charitable coal to unprotected categories of citizens.
