September 9, 2022 - American metallurgical coal makes the steel used in projects all across the world. Average quarterly met coal exports over the last year have risen to 11.3 million tons - up from a low of 9.1 million tons during Q2 of 2020 in the midst of the pandemic.
The largest export destinations for Q1 of 2022 include India (1.9 million tons), Netherlands (1.3mT), Brazil (1.2mT) and Japan (1.1mT). Overall, 40% of all met coal exports were sent to Europe while 37% were sent to Asia.
