September 2, 2023 - The 20th annual Old Construction and Mining Equipment Show is set for Sept. 9-10 in Cadiz, Ohio.
Antique trucks, construction and mining equipment will be on static display and in operation throughout the weekend. The equipment is owned by the Harrison Coal and Reclamation Historical Park, members of the HCRHP, the Ohio Valley Chapter of the Historical Construction Equipment Association, Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owners Club Chapter 22 and other organizations. The equipment will be displayed or in operation and will include draglines, shovels, trucks, crawlers, dozers and more.
The event will also feature earth-moving demonstrations and scale model mining demonstrations.
A variety of antique truck, construction and mining equipment will be on display and in operation during the 18th Annual Old Construction & Mining Equipment Show will be Sept. 11-12 on Ohio 519 (43672 Stumptown Road), between U.S. 22 and New Athens.
The event will only be open to the public during the show and special event times. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 9 and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 10. The Silver Spade operator’s cab and bucket are located on the grounds.
All antique trucks, construction, crawler and mining equipment are welcome. Attendees may bring their antique trucks, crawlers, construction and mining equipment for digging fun or static display.
According to the HCRHP Facebook page, over the past few years, machinery, volunteers and equipment operators have come from western Pennsylvania, the Columbus area and Eastern Ohio. The first 50 entries will receive dash plaques.
The event will also feature historical displays, food trucks and concessions, drawings and raffles, a flea market and a sandbox for children to play in.
Exhibitor camping will be available on site.
Those attending the event can book a room at Cadiz Inn or Microtel Inn and Suites for a discounted group rate. To receive the group rate, attendees should mention “New Athens Shows 23” when booking a room. Microtel Inn and Suites is located at 620 Lincoln Ave. in Cadiz, and the Cadiz Inn, former Days Inn, is located at 82468 Cadiz-Jewett Road in Cadiz. The show will be located on Stumptown Road/Ohio 519, between U.S. 22 and New Athens, just over 1 mile west of New Athens.
Exhibitors receive free admission.
The HCRHP is a nonprofit group formed in the 1990s to preserve the coal mining heritage of Harrison County. The group has a collection of archives, machinery and memorabilia relating to the mining, agriculture and transportation fields.
