September 5, 2023 - WVCA is preparing to embark on an ambitious grassroots campaign to expand and reinvigorate our outreach to increase the visibility of the industry and our effect on government policy and politics.  

We are calling a special membership meeting beginning at 11:30 am with lunch at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Charleston on Tuesday, September 12 to review and discuss this effort. Please plan to attend. 

We intend to freshen up the long-standing Friends of Coal subgroup to generate greater interest among mining interests to utilizing FOC as a forum or platform for everyone's voice to be heard and to have a say in policy matters impacting coal. 

To assist with messaging, ad buy strategies, our social media presence, and outward communications, we are partnering with The Strategy Group (TSG) out of Columbus Ohio to revitalize and grow “Friends of Coal”.  Several WVCA members have worked with TSG over the years and attest to their expertise in this area.  

As part of our grassroots strategy, we will be asking all member companies to assist in this effort by encouraging their employees and their families to sign up for FOC and by identifying an internal communications person so important messages and “calls to action” from WVCA/FOC can be coordinated and carried out internally.

It will take all of us working in harmony to produce the projected results.
