Matrix Design Group Gets MSHA Approval for M3 Proximity Detection System
Matrix Design Group, LLC has announced today that it’s Proximity Detection System, Matrix Miner Monitor (M3), received Intrinsic Safety (IS) approval for use in underground coal mines by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA).
“We are extremely proud of this achievement and what it means for continuous miner operator safety in US coal mines,” said Matrix President Aric Pryor. “This approval paves the way for implementation on production continuous miners, which we plan to start immediately.”
The Matrix Miner Monitor is a proximity detection system designed for use on Continuous Miners (CM).This system detects signals from a transmitter on mining personnel, determines if preset warning limits known as a ‘red zone’ have been violated, and instructs the CM to shut down.
