Stellar Turnout as Doors Open at West Virginia Coal Show 2024

 

 

March 28, 2024 - The first day of the first-ever West Virginia Coal Show, being held March 26 and 27 in the state’s capital city of Charleston, is in the books with thousands in attendance and a sold-out floor of exhibitors enjoying a great crowd.

Doors opened to the exhibition floor at 10 a.m., with lines forming quickly for both pre-registered name tags as well as on-site sign-ups. A steady stream of diverse guests, including many high-level operations executives, made their way across the floor throughout the day. Miss West Virginia Coal Teen 2023 as well as the West Virginia Coal Queen were on hand for photo opportunities. Also visiting with many of the vendors and visitors: former state governor and current U.S. Senator Joe Manchin.

SEMCO Publishing and North American Mining magazine, organizers of WVCS2024, were on hand as well for the 50th West Virginia Coal Association Symposium, being held in conjunction with the show. A keynote from CONSOL Energy CEO Jimmy Brock and a special luncheon presentation from West Virginia Governor Jim Justice were the highlights of the day, along with the association’s annual Mountaineer Guardian awards for mine safety.

March 27, the second day of the two-day event, had exposition hours from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. Registration was free, and all guests attending the West Virginia Coal Association Symposium entered the show floor just by showing their badge.
