Electric Power Monthly and Electricity Monthly Update—April 2025
April 24, 2025 - EIA has released the April 2025 Electricity Monthly Update with data for February 2025. The following are some highlights:
- The largest range of wholesale electricity prices occurred in the Northwest (Mid-C), as this region of the country saw periods of very cold temperatures during February 2025.
- Daily peak demand at Southern Company and Bonneville Power Administration were at the top of their 12-month ranges during February 2025.
- Total U.S. coal stockpiles decreased by 5.9% to 107 million tons compared with the previous month.

We have released the April 2025 Electric Power Monthly with data for February 2025. The following are some highlights:
- Net generation in the United States increased 5.7% from February 2024.
- Consumption of coal for power generation was up 35.5% compared with the previous year.
- The average residential retail price of electricity was up 2.0% from February 2024.
