April 25, 2025 - The Study Guide for the Professional Licensure of Mining and Mineral Processing Engineers is an aid for individuals applying and preparing for a state Mining and Mineral Processing (MMP) Professional Engineer (PE) examination. Now in its 9th edition, this title is a trusted resource in the field, where it is increasingly common for companies to strongly encourage or require licensure as a professional engineer.

The Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME) supports and encourages mining and mineral industry engineers to seek professional licensure.

By using this study guide, aspiring licensed PEs can read what licensing can do for them, learn about the engineering licensure process, find a summary on the application process, and see test-taking strategies specific to the PE exam. This comes in addition to a comprehensive practice exam written by engineers who have passed the PE exam.
