New Mine Could Create New Jobs
August 28, 2025 - In Alabama, representatives from Warrior Met Coal were at the Tuscaloosa County Commission meeting this morning to discuss its new mine.
The new mine is off Highway 69 North on Brandon School Road.
Warrior Met wanted an agreement with Tuscaloosa County to allow some heavier truck traffic and a designated haul route.
The mining company will pay to maintain this road.
Commissioner Stan Acker says this agreement will provide a lot of new jobs to the area.
"There's over 400 jobs in this new mine and that's great economically for the development of the area,” Stan Acker, County Commissioner District 1 said. “It is great for the coal severance tax obviously it comes in the county. It helps pave roads and allows us to do projects at schools and stuff like we do."
Acker says the mine cost up to a billion dollars to build.
