25th Iconic Bluefield Coal & Mining Show Opens with a Flourish
September 11, 2025 - The coal industry converged on Bluefield, WV for the 25th iconic Bluefield Coal & Mining Show when the first group of a projected 6,000 attendees and exhibitors from all 25 coal-producing states in the Nation gathered.
Presented by the Chamber of Commerce of the Two Virginias in partnership with Mining People and CoalZoom, the 3-day event began with the Media & Exhibitor Appreciation Breakfast. Andy Eidson, CEO and Director of Alpha Metallurgical Resources, was the Keynote Speaker who delivered an inspiring address on the exciting opportunities for coal, particularly metallurgical coal. He then opened the Show by cutting the ribbon.

Visitors streamed into the Show and some observers thought that there was a record crowd. “Things are extremely busy and we are delighted with the attendance,” said Debbie Maynard, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce, who has managed 25 coal shows. “This year we have three large continuous mining machines which are drawing large numbers of visitors, and we are all very pleased to see this. We are expecting a great attendance tomorrow, too.”
All attendees and guests park and are shuttled from Mitchell Stadium, 1780 Stadium Drive, Bluefield Drive, Bluefield, WV. Shuttles run continually all day throughout the days of the Show. Directional signs are provided.
An exciting Exhibitor Reception took place in the evening at the Club on the Green in Bluefield, WV. This special event was arranged to provide a hearty and warm welcome to the exhibitors and attendees, some of whom had travelled thousands of miles to be in Bluefield, and featured: live music, Putt-Putt, bourbon auction, and beef jerky tasting.
The Bluefield Coal & Mining Show has thoroughly earned its place as an iconic name in the industry and has supported coal for very nearly 50 years. More than 150 exhibitors are exhibiting their latest products and services to provide greater safety and increased productivity. The many thousands of visitors and exhibitors who have travelled to Bluefield, WV, a most beautiful part of the country in the heart of the coalfields, make this by far the largest mining event in 2025.
