October 9, 2025 - Core Natural Resources has parted ways with its chief executive, Paul Lang, and named its chairman, James Brock, to the additional post of CEO.

Core Natural on Wednesday said Lang, who had been CEO since the January merger of Arch Resources and Consol Energy to form the Canonsburg, Pa., coal producer, has separated from service with the company and resigned from the board.

Core Natural said Lang will receive a lump-sum cash payment of nearly $8 million and is entitled to vesting under his restricted-stock-unit agreements.

Lang, who had served as CEO of Arch from April 2020 until the merger, has agreed to provide transition consulting services through the end of the year, Core Natural said.

Brock has been Core Natural's executive chairman since the merger and before that had served as Consol's CEO since 2017.
