March 17, 2026 - Below is a message from Chris Hamilton, President, West Virginia Coal Association:
Election 2026 – Yes, Please Count on Me in 2026
Now that the 2026 Annual Legislative Session is behind us, our attention is now focused on the May 12, Primary Election and raising political funds to help support those candidates that support our industry.
As you’re well aware, no other business or industry is impacted quite the same as the coal industry by governmental or legislative Action and while every election is important, the 2026 midterm election is extremely critical for coal.
That’s why we are asking you to consider making a personal contribution to our Political Action Committee — West Virginians For Coal. The maximum individual campaign contribution is $2800 per election or $5600 per election cycle.
If your Company has a PAC, it may contribute up to $5,000 directly to West Virginians For Coal.
The Association administers two separate PACs, West Virginians For Coal which is a traditional PAC that receives personal contributions and makes political contributions to individual candidates and the WV Coal Victory PAC, which is an “Independent Expenditure” or Super PAC that can accept corporate contributions and works independently of candidates.
Accordingly, we are also asking you and your company to consider a corporate contribution to the “WV Coal Victory PAC.” The Coal Victory PAC will sponsor radio ads, direct mail pieces and other campaign messaging materials independently of candidates running for election.
Please help us to help coal maintain its strong voice in public policy matters affecting coal and energy. All PAC contributions should be mailed to the Association Office at 200 Association Drive, Suite 160, Charleston WV 25311.
Thank you!
Please return with your personal contribution to West Virginians For Coal”._________________
