‘Butch’ served the coal mining industry for most of his life as a mining equipment salesman working for mining machinery, Oak Hill, WV, based, Long-Airdox Company. Later he joined Conveyer Specialties Inc. Through his work, he became an expert in belt conveyor technology and other mining machinery.  He made lifelong friends in mining that he cherished and was greatly respected by all his customers.

He was a member of the Fairmont and Mannington Moose as well as a member of the Elks. He was an avid golfer as a member of Lakeview, The Pines and Green Hills through the years. Many knew of his personal philosophy of “It’s a good day if you are on top of the divot.” He played some of the most prestigious golf courses in the world and his love for the game was only surpassed by the love he had for his golfing buddies. He was an active member of the neighborhood “mens group” attending his “daily board meetings” to discuss the neighborhoods happenings. His presence in the neighborhood where he has spent the last 40 years is greatly missed.

Above all, his most beloved responsibility was that of Pap. He loved his daily visits from his great grandsons Ezekiel and Emmett. Those who had the gift of calling him Pap are forever changed by the love and support that he poured into them.

‘Butch’ was greatly loved by family and friends. In his words “Bye for now” - he will remain in our hearts forever.

A private memorial service was held and according to his wishes, he was cremated. There was no funeral service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
