The Senate could vote today to pass a bill first championed by Rep. Pete Stauber which will reverse an improper Biden-era land withdrawal in Minnesota. The original action withdrew more than 220,000 acres of heavily mineralized lands in Minnesota from consideration for mining projects, blocking opportunities to responsibly develop world-class mineral deposits. The decision not only hurt communities in Minnesota and weakens our nation’s strategic posture by making the U.S. more reliant on foreign sources of metals and minerals, at the exact time we need domestic sources the most. The House passed the bill last year and we’re hopeful for positive action from the Senate this week.
The largest tungsten company in the world outside of China is moving to the US. Almonty Industries yesterday that it is relocating of its headquarters from Toronto to Montana. The company said the move reflects its commitment to becoming the leading US-aligned tungsten producer, positioning it closer to key stakeholders, government agencies, defense contractors and industrial partners.
