Saturday, April 18th marks an important day at the UWUA: Lineman Appreciation Day. Lineworkers provide an essential utility service, making sure that millions of Americans continue to have access to the electricity we need to power our homes, offices, and lives.
There are an estimated 115,000 lineworkers in the United States today, providing power to over 155 million Americans. During national disasters that disrupt power, like hurricanes, tornadoes, and more, lineworkers are often among the first responders working to ensure the safety of their communities. Their jobs are demanding and sometimes dangerous, and they provide a critical safeguard we couldn’t function without.
This week, please take a moment to tell the lineworkers in your lives how much you value what they do. And from the bottom of our hearts at UWUA, thank you, lineworkers!
