West Virginia Day Festival Set for Saturday at Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine

 


June 19, 2026 - The Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine and Youth Museum of Southern West Virginia will celebrate West Virginia Day with a family-friendly festival on Saturday, June 20.


The WV Day Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine, located at 513 Ewart Ave.

 


The event will feature discounted underground coal mine tours, food vendors, arts and crafts vendors, live music by Been Fishin’ Band, games and free children’s crafts as part of the celebration of West Virginia’s birthday.


Festival organizers have also announced a special guest appearance by author and illustrator David J. Hardie, creator of Appalachian Cryptids and Creatures and Mothman: An Illustrated History. Hardie will be selling books and other merchandise and meeting visitors throughout the day.


In addition, the Beckley Kids Classic Festival Queen, Emily Keaton, will be crowned during the WV Day celebration at 11:45 a.m.
