August 10, 2026 - Below is a message from Mary E. DelRosso, Joint Conference Coordinator, SME PCMIA Annual Joint Meeting:

Good day.  The 2026 SME PCMIA Annual Joint Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday/Thursday, October 21-22, at the Hilton Garden Inn-Southpointe in Canonsburg, PA.  This two-day conference program includes technical sessions on the Coal Center for Excellence (DOE), MSHA Technical, Critical Mineral and Energy Institute, Engineering Projects, and Health and Safety.  Our keynote speakers include Sarah Forbes, Director-Office of Coal for the DOE, Jim Barker, President-Rosebud Mining Company, and Mary Korpi, 2026 SME President.  Wayne Palmer, Assistant Secretary of Labor for MSHA, is also scheduled to speak, pending final approval.  A special 90-minute interactive workshop on Thursday aims to improve your presentation and communication skills.

A Chinese auction runs both days, and we draw winning tickets before the Thursday afternoon reception.  Auction items include Penguin hockey tickets, Target and Cabela gift cards, a lithographed Cam Heyward picture from the Steelers, a Hilton Garden Inn gift certificate for an overnight stay with dinner at Jackson's restaurant, a Justrite carbide coal lamp with reflector, a wick lamp (made by Grier Brothers of Pittsburgh), Sarris Candies, and more.  All proceeds will support scholarship programs for both organizations.

PDH can be earned based on attendance; 6 PDH each day.
