Dear Members,
A few of you have asked about how tickets work for next week's
Mining for Knowledge lecture, so we want to clear that up before Tuesday.
There is one ticket, and it covers both ways to attend.
When you purchase a $20 ticket, you will receive the Zoom login information regardless of how you plan to attend. If you would rather join us at the Museum in person, simply come to the lecture. There is no separate in-person ticket to buy and nothing extra to select at checkout. You can also decide the day of the lecture, so if plans change and you would prefer to watch from home, your login will be waiting for you.
We have also corrected a setting on our shop that was adding a shipping charge. There is no shipping charge for Mining for Knowledge tickets. Simply choose the August Mining for Knowledge lecture and you will be registered for Tuesday's lecture with Fred Mark.
If you are planning to attend in person, you may also buy your ticket at the door on the day of the lecture.
A Reminder of What's Coming:
History of Lake County: 1.8 Billion Years Under Your Feet
Presented by Fred Mark, Retired Geologist, B.S. in Geology, University of Idaho, with 37 years in mining, mineral exploration, and oil and gas development
Why are we here and not there? What makes Leadville different from any other hillside along the Upper Arkansas River? The answer is the mineral deposits, and the story begins 1.8 billion years ago. Fred will trace the collision of continents, the oceans and volcanism that followed, the mineralization that made Leadville, Leadville, and the glaciation and catastrophic flooding that shaped the valley we know today.
