Valmet to Sell its Pump Business to Metso

August 24, 2026 - Valmet has agreed to sell its pump business to Metso in a transaction that will transfer peristaltic hose pump and progressive cavity pump technologies, along with related aftermarket spare parts and service capabilities.

The products are currently sold under the Flowrox brand as part of Valmet’s flow control offering. The transaction is expected to close on 1 October 2026  when the products will be integrated into Metso’s pumps portfolio and rebranded under the Metso name. The Flowrox trademark and brand will remain with Valmet, while Flowrox valves will continue to form part of its valve portfolio.

“This transaction aligns well with Valmet’s strategic agenda in Flow Control. It allows us to focus our resources on further strengthening Valmet’s offering and capabilities in mission-critical valve and valve automation, while also sharpening our position in the mining and metals segment,” said Niko Koivuniemi, Vice President, Strategy & Business Development at Valmet’s Flow Control business area.

For Metso, the acquisition expands its offering in slurry handling and complements its existing pump portfolio, particularly in mining markets.

“We are excited to welcome the new offerings as well as the team and their expertise to Metso,” said Tiago Marques Oliveira, vice president, Pumps Business Line, Metso. “This acquisition strengthens our ability to deliver end-to-end slurry handling solutions, with stronger and complementing offering in demanding heavy-duty applications. In addition, it enhances our aftermarket and service capabilities as a long-term full lifecycle partner in key mining markets globally.”

The acquired hose pump technologies are designed for abrasive, corrosive, viscous and crystallizing slurries, particularly in heavy-duty mining operations. Applications include thickener underflow, filter feed, flocculant dosing, slurry sampling and slurry re-circulation, where reliable continuous flow, efficiency, ease of maintenance and long wear life are important.

Metso said the acquisition will strengthen its ability to provide comprehensive slurry handling solutions across the mining flowsheet. Its existing portfolio includes slurry pumps, pipes, hoses, valves and hydrocyclones, supported by manufacturing and service operations in key mining markets.
