Sandvik Brings Global Mining Leaders Together at Future of Mining 2026
September 2, 2026 - Sandvik is bringing together mining leaders from around the world in Tampere, Finland, this week for Future of Mining 2026, a global event that, the OEM says, showcases the technologies, partnerships and operational strategies shaping the next era of mining.
Across two days of discussions and demonstrations, Sandvik will showcase advances in automation, electrification, AI and digital mining, including its latest autonomous, battery-electric surface drilling concept.
The event brings together senior representatives from leading mining companies and contractors with Sandvik experts to explore how electrification, automation, digitalisation and AI are being applied across increasingly integrated mining operations.

The main program includes a full-day conference at Nokia Arena on September 1, featuring customer presentations and panel discussions on zero-entry mining, electrification, digital transformation and the future of mining. Speakers representing leading mining companies and technology partners include AngloGold Ashanti, Boliden, Byrnecut, Codelco, Eldorado Gold, Freeport-McMoRan, Glencore, LKAB, Mariana Minerals, Sonal Mining Technology and Torex Gold.
“Future of Mining 2026 gives us an important opportunity to bring customers together not only to discuss where mining is heading, but to experience the technologies helping take it there,” Patrick Murphy, President of Mining at Sandvik, said. “There is tremendous value in having our customers, experts and industry peers together in the same place, seeing new technology in action, exchanging experiences and challenging us on what the industry needs next. Those conversations help us focus innovation on what matters most in our customers’ operations: improving productivity, reliability and availability.”
Following the conference program, customers will visit Sandvik’s Underground Test Mine, Surface Test Pit and rock drill factory in Tampere to see the company’s latest technologies in operation.
At the Surface Test Pit, Sandvik will demonstrate its latest concept machine. The fully autonomous, battery-electric surface drilling concept embodies the company’s vision for the next generation of surface mining, Sandvik says, showcasing how AI, enhanced robotics, electrification and digital connectivity can work together as part of an intelligent, mine-wide operating system to improve safety and productivity.
Other surface demonstrations will include Sandvik’s latest surface and rotary drilling solutions, automation technologies, Deswik integration and Universal Field Robots technologies.
At Sandvik’s Underground Test Mine, live demonstrations will showcase next-generation development drilling alongside advanced automation, AI-supported drilling, active power compensation and enhanced safety systems. The demonstrations will highlight how electrification and automation can contribute to greater productivity, improved safety and lower-emission mining operations.
Sandvik’s newly renovated rock drill factory will demonstrate the growing integration of the digital mine. Technologies including AutoMine®, Deswik, Newtrax and Universal Field Robots solutions will show how planning, equipment, operations and decision making can increasingly be connected across the mining value chain.
Additional technology highlights during Future of Mining 2026 include live AutoMine demonstrations, next-generation electrification solutions, integrated digital workflows using Deswik and AutoMine and the introduction of Deswik NOVA for surface operations.
Future of Mining 2026 will also showcase Sandvik’s rock processing solutions, highlighting how integrated crushing, screening, automation and digital technologies can support safer, more productive and more sustainable mining and mineral processing operations.
Together, the conference and technology demonstrations highlight how connected equipment, automation, electrification and digital solutions can help mining companies improve productivity and safety while advancing their sustainability objectives through closer collaboration and innovation, the company says.
Future of Mining 2026 takes place in Tampere on September 1 and 2. The main event is complemented by dedicated Sandvik Rock Tools and Load and Haul programs in Sandviken, Sweden, and Turku, Finland, giving customers additional opportunities to visit Sandvik facilities, meet specialists and experience technologies first-hand.
