Warrior Met Coal’s Blue Creek Mine Drives Higher Production

October 15, 2026 - Warrior Met Coal began longwall operations at its Blue Creek mine ahead of schedule and on budget in early 2026. The ramp-up helped the company achieve record second-quarter sales of 3.7 million short tons and a 45% increase in production.

Higher volumes and lower reported cash costs of sales, supported by Section 45X tax credits, reflect Warrior’s transition from major project spending toward increased metallurgical coal production for global steelmakers.

Weak steel demand and lower coking coal prices remain challenges, potentially offsetting some benefits of increased output. Freight costs and mine performance will also influence profitability.

Warrior plans to release its third-quarter 2026 results and hold an investor call on November 4. The update is expected to provide further details on Blue Creek’s ramp-up, production costs, margins and sales outlook.
