Russia Strikes Power Plants, Coal Mines
October 25, 2026 - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday that Russian forces had targeted "thermal power plants, substations, coal mines, grain silos, shopping centers, and a postal terminal" overnight.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, four people were killed and 22 injured, Zelensky wrote on X. He said that "in Vinnytsia, a Russian drone struck a high-rise building. Six people were wounded." He also said Russian forces in Kharkiv "first struck a construction supply store and then cynically launched a follow-up strike against the emergency services that had arrived at the scene."
"This week alone, Russia has launched approximately 1,600 guided aerial bombs, 48 missiles of various types—including ballistic missiles—and nearly 2,300 attack drones at Ukraine," Zelensky stated. "This is how Russia is responding to diplomacy and de-isolation," he emphasized. Zelensky urged European partners to release previously agreed Patriot missile interceptors, warning that continued military assistance was essential ahead of winter.
