Open Cut Highwall Adjacent to Public Road Failed

 

 

December 22, 2015 - The NSW Mine Safety inspectorate has released an Investigation Information Release in relation to a section of an open cut highwall adjacent to a public road failing on June 6, 2015.

The incident occurred at Moolarben Coal Operations Open Cut at Mudgee while regular mining operations were taking place just before 8 a.m.. There was nobody in the immediate area at the time of the slump.

The failure was about 160m wide and 55m high.The highwall was about 40m from a public road.
