Kentucky's Madisonville Community College Offering Mine Certification Training - March 27-31

 

 

February 23, 2017 - Kentucky's Madisonville Community College is offering the Mine Safety and Health Administration required Basic Mine Safety and Health Training for new miners with no mining experience for underground (40hr) operations.


The next 40-Hour Initial Underground Certification Class will be held March 27-31 from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. daily. Bart Allen is the instructor. The fee is $100.


MCC Workforce Solutions Director Mike Davenport noted, “Mining is on the upswing with production in western Kentucky. Workforce Solutions will be scheduling Initial Underground Certification Classes on a regular basis.”


In addition, MCC offers the associate in applied science degree in Mining Technology. This program focuses on the knowledge needed to succeed in the coal mining industry. Emphasis is given to the statutory rights and safety procedures in all offerings, including the self-rescuer device, transportation controls, communication controls, mining conditions, mining methods, and mining cycle. Kentucky Coal Academy scholarships are available for eligible students.
